May 2016 – a time to be Meat Free!

May is the time to try a meat-free diet!

How will you promote meat free living to your friends and family this May?

The Vegetarian Society have teamed up with Tesco to promote National Veggie Week 16th – 22nd May.

They are giving grants to people (I got £50!) who are promoting veggie food and you can download posters and resources.

Like last year…

LMFM Green Groups

Are you part of an environmental group in London?

We would love to see the following environmental groups really embrace greener living by enocuraging their members to try a #LondonMeatFreeMonday.

greenpartyWe believe The Green Party will be even greener if it actively encourages it’s 16,000 members to think about how their diet damanges the planet. Their website search results show Environment – 691, but only 14 for vegan and 20 for vegetarian! The Green Manifesto makes it clear they care, “Human-made climate change is an unprecedentedly serious threat to our welfare.”  and they want to ban factory farming & battery eggs. Thanks to Tom Acre at Southwark Greens for letting Thomas Micklewright talk at the meeting on September 4 2013, we look forward to networking with the group in the future – especially about Meat Free Mondays in schools & councils.

FOE logoFriends of the Earth – all their local branches. We already have links with Southwark Friends of the Earth – do you have a branch near you that you could contact? Tuesday 17th September 2013 at 7.30pm Southwark Friends of the Earth and Southwark Transition Town will be meeting at Cambridge House, 1 Addington Square London SE5 0HF. We hope to see you there!

If you are the local contact/ member for one of these groups please get in touch.
