Dave of Dulwich Books says “Despite all the fantastical advances in technology and our ability to access information, you will never be able equal the pleasure of owning a book, opening it for the first time and getting lost in a great story- which is something that simply can not be replicated on a digital screen. It is not just the experience of reading that is vital, it is the process of walking into a shop and finding a book that will change your life, just like buying your favourite record, it will never shape your life in the way it should if you just click ‘download’”

Vegan Travel

VeganPassport-2010-frontPlease post in the comments your experiences of vegan food across the globe!

Two handy guides that I have used are the vegan passport and Alex Bourkes Vegetarian Europe guide.

Soon I will be going on a two week adventure around Eastern Europe, so if you have any vegan advice about the following place let me know!

Eastern Europe Edventure!

  • Czech (Prague)
  • Poland (Krakow)
  • Austria (Vien)

Vien – Makro1 (delicious cupcakes and coffee)

  • Hungary (Budapest)

Budapest – Napfenyes Etterem (all vegan, huge range of incredible meals, snacks and drinks – try the homemade rosewater lemonade and the somlo sponge cake)

  • Croatia ( Split)

Split – MakroVega (daily changing menu, with one vegetarian and one vegan menu, as well as cakes)

  • Bosnia (Sarajevo/Mostar)

I will be updating the page after the trip with images etc, but in the mean time please do comment if you have any advice!

Heyford Vegan Bed and Breakfast (Oxford)

heyford“Twenty-five years ago I became vegetarian for humanitarian reasons.  I became increasingly aware not only of the cruel practices in the food industry, but of the environmental impact of a largely carnivorous diet, and how this is not sustainable in the future. There is increasing evidence too of the health benefits of eating a plant-based diet.  I became Vegan five years ago in the strong belief that it is the most sustainable and ecologically-sound way of living which impacts on all aspects of my life, not just diet.

H&F field poppies 1I am really fortunate to have moved to a lovely village and as I have some rooms to spare, I felt I would like to share my good fortune with others.  As resources for Vegans are far and few between and I am passionate about promoting all things Vegan, I decided to start up my bed and breakfast and delight in providing a good, wholesome breakfast for my guests.”
